Established in 2000, MutualData has a long history of serving the computer/Internet needs of businesses and residents in Clinton and Gratiot counties. MutualData is truly the “local” company that you can rely on for your Internet access needs.
MutualData was born out of the original Mint City Internet, a dialup only ISP founded in 1996. In 1999, wireless technologies had been developed by manufacturers that were able to provide Internet access, fixed wireless communications were installed in St. Johns and then the next year in Ovid. With continued growth, a business plan was submitted to the US Dept. of Agriculture Broadband pilot program. This plan offered a chance for the Rural Utility Service to deploy a wireless ISP as part of their investigations into providing broadband service to rural customers. The accepted plan was funded in November of 2002 and Mutual Data Services has continued to grow ever since.
Mutual Data Services was founded and is guided by Barry C. Buchholz Jr. His experience in Internet technologies began in 1995, but experience with computers began with the first IBM XT’s deployed in the 1980s. His software experience begins with DOS 1.0.
One person’s abilities do not make Mutual Data Services. Barry’s desire to provide local employment has now included individuals from Elsie, St. Johns, Hubbardston and Lansing areas. Each team member is committed to making sure their neighbor’s Internet access is working.
Mutual Data Services can provide high-speed Internet access in St. Johns, Fowler, Ovid, Elsie, Maple Rapids, Middleton, and Perrinton.
